Mowana Sailing offers private sailing tours from Playa Flamingo on Guanacaste’s Pacific coast. The entire boat and crew are reserved for your group; this is not a shared excursion.

Mowana is a renovated Buccaneer 33 trimaran with capacity for up to 12 guests. Tours depart from Playa Flamingo Beach, directly in front of the PLEAMAR restaurant.

A 100% Private Experience

Whether you sail as a couple, with family or with friends, the boat is reserved only for your group.

This gives you space to enjoy the large trampolines and the day without sharing the experience with unrelated passengers.

The captain adapts the route and stops to the conditions. Wind, waves, currents and visibility can change the plan, so no specific beach, anchorage or wildlife sighting is guaranteed.

Three Tour Formats from Playa Flamingo

Mowana offers three private options:

  • Morning Half-Day: 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

  • Sunset Half-Day: 1:30 PM until sunset.

  • Full Day: 9:30 AM until sunset.

Snorkeling, Swimming, Fishing and One Paddleboard

When conditions allow, the tour can include swimming, snorkeling, fishing and use of the one paddleboard carried on board.

Two swimming or snorkeling areas may sometimes be possible when conditions are favorable, but this is never guaranteed. The captain chooses according to visibility, currents and sea conditions.

Snorkeling and fishing equipment are available aboard Mowana.

Food and Unlimited Drinks

All tours include food and unlimited drinks, with food service depending on the tour.

  • Morning Half-Day: snacks, coffee and cinnamon rosquillas.

  • Sunset Half-Day: snacks and drinks; coffee and rosquillas are not part of this tour.

  • Full Day: a complete menu during the day, including fruit, morning items, a BBQ lunch, dessert, coffee and cinnamon rosquillas.

Menus can vary during the season.

Unlimited drinks include water, soft drinks, juices, beer, red, white and rosé wine, cava, rum, gin, vodka, tequila, guaro and cocktails within the standard onboard offering.

A Private Trimaran, Not a Shared Catamaran

Mowana is a Buccaneer 33 trimaran. For travelers who want an alternative to large shared catamaran trips, the private format keeps the experience to your own group.

Maximum capacity is 12 guests.

Company History and the Captain’s Experience

Mowana Sailing has been operating since 2022.

Jean-Luc, captain and owner of Mowana Sailing, has been sailing in the Tamarindo and Potrero area since 1992. These are two separate facts: his personal experience began long before Mowana Sailing was created.

A tour aboard Mowana lets you see the coast from the Pacific, but the exact route always depends on the conditions of the day.
