Mowana sails from Playa Flamingo, a convenient departure point for travelers staying in Flamingo, Potrero, Playa Conchal, Tamarindo and nearby destinations.
Instead of joining a shared excursion with many other passengers, your group has Mowana entirely to itself. Our Buccaneer 33 is a trimaran with large trampolines, shaded areas and plenty of room to enjoy sailing between stops.

Marine Life in Guanacaste
Sailing along Guanacaste’s coast sometimes offers the opportunity to observe marine life in its natural environment.
Depending on the season and the day’s conditions, you may spot dolphins, sea turtles or other species found in Pacific waters.
These sightings are never guaranteed. They depend entirely on nature and the conditions encountered during your trip.

A private sailing trip is about more than simply stepping aboard a boat. With Mowana, the boat and crew are dedicated exclusively to your group for the entire trip. No other group shares the experience with you, giving families, couples and groups of friends more space and privacy.
Your time on the water combines sailing with opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, paddleboarding and exploring the coast. You can also relax in the hammocks on the trimaran’s trampolines, enjoy the shaded areas or simply take in the scenery.
Snorkeling equipment is available on board for use when conditions allow you to enter the water. Sea conditions, currents and visibility vary from day to day. The captain chooses suitable spots for swimming and water activities based on these conditions, rather than always following a predetermined stop.
You may encounter marine wildlife while sailing along the Pacific coast. Dolphins, sea turtles and other species can sometimes be seen, but sightings are never guaranteed.
Aboard Mowana
Sailing, swimming, snorkeling, paddleboarding and time to relax shape your trip, depending on the day’s conditions.
Snorkeling equipment and one paddleboard are available on board. You can also enjoy the hammocks on the trampolines, shaded areas, drinks and the food provided with your chosen tour.
Swimming and snorkeling spots are not fixed: the captain selects them according to visibility, currents and sea conditions.
And if you prefer simply to relax, settle in on board and enjoy Guanacaste’s Pacific coast.
Departing from Playa Flamingo
All Mowana trips depart from Playa Flamingo Beach, in Guanacaste.
The meeting point is directly on the beach, in front of PLEAMAR restaurant.
Playa Flamingo is conveniently located for travelers staying nearby, including in Potrero, Playa Conchal, Tamarindo or Las Catalinas.
Whether you are staying in Tamarindo or elsewhere in the region, the departure point is always Playa Flamingo.
Transportation to the meeting point is not included.

A Mowana trip does not follow a fixed sequence of destinations. The itinerary adapts to your chosen tour and sea conditions, particularly when selecting suitable spots for swimming and snorkeling.
A Buccaneer 33 Trimaran for Your Group
Mowana is a Buccaneer 33 trimaran, originally built in San Francisco for racing and later adapted to offer greater comfort on private trips.
Its large trampolines let you relax close to the water, while shaded areas provide protection from the tropical sun.
Mowana welcomes up to 12 guests and is reserved entirely for your group.
Its racing heritage, open spaces and private experience give it a character that sets it apart from larger tour boats.
Local Sailing Experience
Mowana Sailing has been operating since 2022.
Its captain and owner, Jean-Luc, has been sailing in the Tamarindo and Potrero area since 1992, long before Mowana Sailing was founded.
This local experience is valuable along a coast where wind, currents, visibility and sea conditions can change. Decisions during your trip are guided by the conditions encountered rather than a route fixed in advance.
This approach allows the captain to choose suitable spots for the day’s conditions, helping you enjoy your time on the water with peace of mind.
