A Private Sunset Sailing Tour on the Pacific
A sunset sailing tour from Playa Flamingo is one of the most memorable ways to experience Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. As the afternoon light begins to soften, Mowana leaves Playa Flamingo for a private sailing experience reserved exclusively for your group.
Aboard our fully renovated Buccaneer 33 trimaran, you can relax on the spacious deck and giant bow trampolines, enjoy a drink and watch the Guanacaste coastline change color as sunset approaches.
Why Choose a Private Sunset Sailing Tour?
Privacy: Mowana is reserved exclusively for your group, whether you are sailing as a couple, family, group of friends or even on your own. No strangers or shared charter.
Atmosphere: Relax on the deck or giant trampolines while our French-Costa Rican crew takes care of everything. Drinks and a fresh Costa Rican BBQ meal are included.
Golden hour: Late afternoon brings beautiful light across the Guanacaste coastline before the sun disappears over the Pacific.
Wildlife: Dolphins, sea turtles, rays and other marine animals may occasionally be encountered while sailing, but wildlife is unpredictable and sightings are never guaranteed.
Depending on the conditions, your sunset sailing tour may take you along some of Guanacaste’s most beautiful stretches of coastline, including Playa Conchal, Playa del Amor and Playa Penca, with secluded bays and spectacular coastal scenery along the way.
Before or after your sunset cruise, explore more romantic things to do in Guanacaste for couples, including secluded beaches, coastal dining and peaceful nature experiences.
What's Included in Your Sunset Sailing Tour?
Your sunset tour is fully all-inclusive. A fresh Costa Rican BBQ meal is prepared on board, with unlimited beer, rum, soft drinks and water throughout the trip.
Snorkeling equipment, paddleboards and fishing gear are also included, so there is nothing extra to organize or rent before your departure.
Practical info
Departure: Playa Flamingo, directly in front of the PLEAMAR restaurant.
Schedule: 1:30 PM until sunset.
Capacity: 1 to 12 guests. The trimaran is completely private regardless of your group size.
Included: Costa Rican BBQ meal, unlimited drinks, snorkeling equipment, paddleboards and fishing gear.
What to Expect During Your Sunset Sailing Tour
Your sunset sailing tour begins in Playa Flamingo at 1:30 PM. Once everyone is comfortably aboard Mowana, Captain Jean-Luc selects the most enjoyable route according to the wind, waves and sea conditions.
As the trimaran leaves the coast behind, you can relax on the spacious deck, settle into the beanbags or enjoy the nets suspended above the water. Because every tour is completely private, the atmosphere remains peaceful and the experience can be adapted to your group.
During the afternoon, we usually stop in a sheltered bay where you can swim and snorkel in calm water or explore the coastline on a paddleboard. Fishing equipment is also available for guests who would like to try their luck. Wildlife encounters are possible along the way, including
Dolphins, sea turtles, rays and seasonal humpback whales, although sightings can never be guaranteed.
Food and Drinks Included on Board
Your private sunset sailing tour includes unlimited drinks such as beer, rum, soft drinks and water. A fresh Costa Rican BBQ meal is prepared on board and served during the experience.
There is no need to organize food, carry snorkeling equipment or plan activities separately. Snorkeling gear, paddleboards and fishing equipment are all included, allowing each guest to enjoy the afternoon at their own pace.
As sunset approaches, Mowana returns to open water so you can watch the sky change above the Pacific. The light, colors and scenery are different every day, making each sunset tour a unique experience.
