Three options, an unforgettable coastline

We offer three private sailing tours departing from Playa Flamingo: a morning half-day trip, a sunset half-day trip, and a full-day trip.

Morning half-day (8:30 AM – 12:30 PM)

Start your day on the Pacific with a four-hour sail along the Flamingo coast. We stop at secluded snorkeling coves—such as Playa del Amor, Las Catalinas, or anchorages accessible only by sea. Dolphins often come to play at the boat's bow.

Sunset half-day (1:30 PM – sunset)

The Gold Coast at sunset is an unforgettable experience. You sail due west as the sky turns orange and red over the Pacific—glass in hand, sails billowing. It is the perfect choice for couples and groups looking to end the day in style.

Full day (9:30 AM – sunset)

The full Mowana experience. A full day of sailing, snorkeling, paddleboarding, fishing, and lounging on the nets as the coastline drifts by. Unlimited food and drinks included from departure until sunset.

Each outing includes unlimited drinks (beer, rum, soft drinks, water), a fresh Costa Rican BBQ meal prepared on board, snorkeling gear, paddleboards, and fishing equipment. We sail using wind and solar power—no engine noise, just the sound of the ocean.

The Mowana is a Buccaneer 33 trimaran—wider, more stable, and more comfortable than a standard catamaran. It features giant beanbags on deck, nets suspended over the water, and a layout designed for groups who want to truly kick back and relax. Up to 12 guests per trip.

Our captain, Jean-Luc, has been sailing these waters for over 30 years and speaks fluent French, English, and Spanish. Mowana is a family-run operation; every detail on board reflects 30 years of local expertise and a genuine love for this coastline.

The Course

All private sailing tours:

You will sail mainly around the bay of "Flamingo", either towards Playa "Conchal" on the South, or towards the North at the gates of playa "Del Coco".

From Playa Flamingo you will be picked up at the beach and brought on board of the Mowana by our team.

After giving you the safety instructions, you will sail along the gold coast to a snorkeling point where you can dive and admire the marine life.

After snorkeling, we will invite you back on board for a delicious late lunch, serving a traditional meal and refreshing drinks, allowing you to recharge and unwind under the beautiful coastal skies.

Drinks are unlimited on the boat.

(Soda, a variety of soft drinks, beers, rum...to be consumed in moderation).

As the day draws to a close, you'll sail back to the starting point, soaking in the awe-inspiring sunset that Costa Rica offers, creating a perfect finale to your sea trip on the MOWANA.
