What to Expect on a Private Sailing Tour

1. Arriving at the Meeting Point on Playa Flamingo Beach

Your private sailing tour begins on Playa Flamingo Beach, in front of the PLEAMAR restaurant. Our Mowana Sailing crew will meet you directly on the beach and take you aboard our small tender for the short ride to the Mowana trimaran, anchored just offshore.

Before leaving the beach, you can leave your shoes with our crew and collect them when you return. From there, your private sailing adventure along the Guanacaste coast begins.

2. Board the Mowana Trimaran

Once aboard the Mowana, our crew will welcome you and give you a short safety briefing before departure. Life jackets are available for both adults and children.

Then it’s time to settle in, get comfortable and enjoy your private trimaran as we prepare to sail along the beautiful Pacific coast of Guanacaste.

3. Your Private Sailing Adventure Begins

Once we set sail, the Mowana is entirely yours to enjoy. Relax on the spacious trampolines and giant beanbags, admire the Guanacaste coastline, or simply enjoy the feeling of sailing across the Pacific.

Depending on the weather and sea conditions, your captain will choose the best route and anchorage for the day. Along the way, keep an eye out for dolphins, sea turtles, rays and other marine life often encountered in these waters.

Drinks are available throughout the tour, and you are welcome to play your own music or simply enjoy the sound of the ocean.

4. Snorkeling, Paddleboarding and Exploring

Once we reach a secluded anchorage along the Guanacaste coast, it’s time to explore the water. Snorkeling equipment is provided on board, so you can discover tropical fish and marine life in the clear Pacific waters.

Paddleboards are also available if you prefer to explore the bay from the surface. Depending on the anchorage and sea conditions, you can swim, snorkel, paddleboard or simply relax on board the Mowana and enjoy the surrounding coastline.

Our crew is always nearby to help with the equipment and make sure everyone can enjoy the experience at their own pace.

5. Fresh Costa Rican BBQ on Board

After swimming, snorkeling or paddleboarding, it’s time to relax and enjoy a fresh Costa Rican BBQ prepared on board by our crew.

Your meal is served with fresh local ingredients, while unlimited drinks — including beer, rum, soft drinks and water — are available throughout the tour. Sit back, enjoy the view and share a meal with your group in the peaceful surroundings of the Guanacaste coast.

If you have any food allergies or dietary requirements, simply let us know in advance so we can prepare accordingly.

6. Sail Back to Playa Flamingo

After your time at anchor, we begin the sail back to Playa Flamingo. Relax on the trampolines, enjoy a final drink and take in the views of the Guanacaste coast as Mowana makes her way back toward the beach.

On sunset tours, the return journey becomes one of the highlights of the experience, with the sun setting over the Pacific as we sail back to Playa Flamingo.

Once we arrive, our tender will take you back to the beach, bringing your private sailing experience aboard Mowana to an end.

Choose your private sailing tour aboard Mowana and discover the Guanacaste coast exclusively with your group.

Morning, sunset or full-day, each tour welcomes up to 12 guests and includes drinks, a meal prepared on board, snorkeling equipment, paddleboards and fishing gear.

Departures take place from Playa Flamingo, directly in front of PLEAMAR restaurant.
